Emblem, formerly known as Badgeth, is a Wave 1 Grant recipient.
Emblem’s mission is to analyze the Ethereum blockchain to capture and recognize that which is meaningful, noteworthy, heroic, foolish, or exceptional, as defined by Web3 communities. Just because Ethereum addresses are pseudo-anonymous does not mean they have to be soulless. Emblem aims to develop a public persona and reputation for any Ethereum addresses.
Almost one year ago, we set out to build a framework for issuing beautiful Soulbound (”non-transferrable”) NFT badges to Indexers, Delegators, Curators, and Subgraph Developers for their network-aligned contributions to The Graph.
Using subgraphs, Emblem defines the criteria for badges, identifies winners, and awards NFT-stamped recognition.
The Emblem dApp serves as a gateway to Ethereum—a user-friendly directory of protocols, badge pathways, educational guides, leaderboards, user profiles, and an extensive crypto glossary. It conveys to users human-readable reputation signals, and provides a direct onramp for newcomers toward meaningful participation in protocol communities.
We are an international, remote-first team hailing from India, North America, Germany, and South Africa. What binds us together is our shared goal: incentivize meaningful on-chain behavior to create harmonious Web3 communities. Vitalik Buterin is a constant source of inspiration to us; we were very pleased to see our mission validated in two of his recent essays: Soulbound and Beyond Coin Voting Governance.
From Day One, we have been committed to ensuring that Emblem’s infrastructure becomes and remains a public utility that is neutral, radically transparent, open-source, and respects the sovereignty and autonomy of protocol contributors. To reflect our commitment to these philosophies, we’ve named our team Soulbound Labs—the team that is the heart and soul behind Emblem.
